The greatest challenge for this project was how to integrate state-of-the-art technology with the home’s rustic construction and décor. In addition, the theater was located in a second floor loft, rather than the usual basement or bonus room. Much of the home was already built before THE EDGE became involved in the project. Consequently, tremendous creativity by our engineering staff was necessary to gain access to critical areas. Ceilings that ranged from 10’ to nearly 30’ created acoustical concerns too numerous to mention. Compromises between the owner’s passion for hi-fi and their recalcitrant decorator were difficult to reconcile. The final design includes two surround sound areas, and a third high-end theater, with seating for eleven guests. Also featured are eight individually controlled audio zones, and a reference two-channel music room.
